3:16 Plan - Week 22 - Day 2 - Year 1 - Judges 13-14

If you could ask one direct question of God, what would it be?

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Read - Judges 13-14

Chapter 13 shows the preparation of a family to bring about a child of great purpose.  As they are visited by the angel who is giving them this great news, we do not read of any doubt but instead an awe and reverence.  Their primary concern is “What will be the child’s manner and mission?”  They want to know how to help their future son live within the purpose he is created for…what a fabulous target for a parent!

Chapter 14 introduces us to Samson with his supernatural strength.  We are also introduced to the sub-plot of his life.  He is enticed by foreign women of the nation he has been born to protect his people from.  This becomes quite a struggle as the story of his first marriage unfolds.  Samson’s loyalties will be tested just as his wife’s loyalties are tested.  When we make decisions that divide our loyalties we will find it hard to accomplish all that God has created us to do.

Lord, reveal to me how you have gifted me and I will serve You with purpose and conviction.

Extra Discovery

Samson is included briefly in the ‘Heroes of Faith’ section in Hebrews 11:32.  The only perfect hero is Jesus.

Samson’s short-lived marriage is used by the evil one to decieve, divide and destroy.  Samson is pulled off course and into greater sin in tomorrow’s reading with the same issues.
