3:16 Plan - Week 23 - Day 3 - Year 1 - 1 Samuel 1-2

A heart-felt prayer to God may be the only things between you and a miracle.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

1 John 5:14 - This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

Read - 1 Samuel 1-2

This book begins with the birth of its namesake.  Is it shocking that God brings forth a final judge who is born out of a polygamous marriage?  Remember that if God waited for sinless people to use He would still be waiting for ‘all have sinned’.  This is not to excuse sin but to glorify God who works in our life to draw us out of sin and to Him.

To be barren was a horrible and lonely condition for a woman in this culture… even more-so as Hannah’s rival was able to have many children. Note that her trouble didn’t keep her from praying and trusting God!

Samuel was dedicated to God’s service.  Once weaned, he began serving the Lord at the Tabernacle with Eli the Priest.  His mother insured that he would be trained up from a young age to be used of God.  This can motivate us, as parents and children, to do the same.

Lord, help me to trust in You even when me circumstances seem barren.

Extra Discovery

As we start the book of 1 Samuel here is a survey of it:

Hannah trusted God and waited for His blessing.  She hoped that His plans would bring her a child.  Once that plan was revealed in the birth of her son (Samuel), she gave him to God to serve Him all the days of his life.  She became very aware (Knowledge) of God’s Plan when He answered.  She showed her Love for God as she offered her son and sang her song.  She allowed her son to Serve God with his life!
