When it is rare to hear from The Lord we must stay tuned!
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
John 10:27 - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
Read - 1 Samuel 3-4
As Samuel is learning to hear from God, the rest of the nation is forgetting God’s Word. Samuel receives a direct message about the future of the nation and shares it with his superior even though the news is bad for him.
Israel handles the ark of God as if it is a genie in a bottle in hopes that would be the trick that would give them victory over their enemy. Not only does that not work but the ark is even stolen by the enemy! We must be careful not to pretend that we go with the favor and direction of God unless we are certain that we do!
As I study Your Word, speak Lord, for Your servant is listening.
The Ark was never to be handled inappropriately. It was where the presence of God would join with his people (Exodus 25).
Samuel was learning to Know God’s voice. In the same way, God is speaking to us. Although we must become most familiar with his most common way to do so - His Word. Often times, we seek a sign or a ‘handwriting on the wall’ when The Bible offers the precise instruction that we need. God, His Word and His Will.
