3:16 Plan - Week 25 - Day 5 - Year 1 - 1 Samuel 25-26

Vengeance can tarnish your record so let God bring justice instead.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Psalm 23: 5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.

Many times David would be spared poor decisions.  Other times, he would fall into a mess of his own doing. In this case, God uses a woman to intercede on behalf of a fool to keep a future king from having a tarnished record.  David would bloody himself in battles for the Lord but was not to bloody himself in battles of vengeance.

Saul once again pursues David and comes up short.   God protects his future leader by causing Saul’s men to sleep so deep that David could sneak into the camp.  We may never know how God protects us from His/our enemy but we can know that He does!

Yield

Lord, when dealing with others help me not to be prideful or foolish.

Extra Discovery

David followed the cultural practice of taking multiple wives.  Although this was not God’s plan for marriage, David was still blessed.  However, this did bring him trouble:  https://www.gotquestions.org/wives-King-David.html

Revelation

David had taken up his position in the land and was acting as a security force for Nabal’s farm.  Nabal was ignorant of this reality.  He didn’t know what was going on!  The man was about the least loving person we have yet encountered in scripture.  He was all about himself.  His actions proved out his ignorance and his hatefulness.  He served only his own desires.  This is a picture of a Marred and Misled man.  Ultimately, his life is taken from him and he experiences a physical death to match his already bleak spiritual condition.  It doesn’t have to be this way.
