Read - 1 Samuel 17-18

One of the all time favorite Bible Stories…David slaying Goliath is an amazing picture of the power of God at work.  This  young, anointed leader has been blessed with a faith and a resolve that slays giants his entire life.  The example for us is equally powerful.  What giants do you face and how might God be calling you to face them?

Saul becomes jealous of David’s success.  We see this too often.  As a leader, we should esteem and empower those whom we lead that have gifts and talents.  David’s success should have only caused Saul to be a more effective leader.  Instead, the downward spiral of Saul’s weak leadership continues…

Lord, help me to celebrate the successes of others rather than be bitter, jealous or envious.

What about these evil spirits from the Lord?  https://www.gotquestions.org/evil-spirit-Saul.html

Would you fight a giant that was 9’6” Tall if you didn’t KNOW God had called you to do it?  Would you go to war against an insurmountable enemy (like the Philistines) for someone you didn’t LOVE?  Our SERVING is much the same as David and these Israelites.  It is motivated by Knowing God and Loving God and then acting upon it.
