Absalom seeks to kill his father but David is hidden by God and by the help of others.  In the midst of these tragic circumstances, we read of David’s rejoicing and trust in God through these Psalms.

Yield

Lord, when I feel surrounded by evil plots help me to rejoice in You.

Extra Discovery

This would have been a time for a person like David to fear evil yet his own Psalm (Psalm 23) had to be a help during this trouble as it reminded him to not fear such things.

Revelation

Reading Psalm 3 with spiritual rather than physical yes can be helpful for the follower of Jesus.  It is true that we have many spiritual enemies (for we do not battle against flesh and blood).  We can find rest only in God when our enemy pursues us.  In this situation we simply trust God and call out for him to arise and win the victory.  David had a rock-solid faith that God would come through.  He Knew he wasn’t alone!
