The consequences of sin can be generational without repentance.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
Read - 2 Samuel 21:1-22, 1 Chronicles 20:4-8
This Bible text is difficult to understand. Israel is being punished for bloodshed that shouldn’t have happened (Saul trying to eliminate a people) therefore David agrees to let that people slaughter 7 of Saul’s descendants. Truly, those that live by the sword may die by the sword. Let us pray that we do not mis-step to the point of this type of exchange.
David’s mighty army continues to conquest over giants. At the same time, his warriors ask him to be removed from battle to protect his life. They understand that the life of the King is worth more from the throne than from the battlefield.
Lord, keep me from making enemies in places where You haven’t called me to fight.
A history on the Gibeonites and Israel - https://amazingbibletimeline.com/blog/gibeonites/
In David’s continued quest to Know God and His will we see many tough decisions. When David gains knowledge on the problem with the Gibeonites he is tested to see if he will serve God faithfully and thus end the famine in the land. Just knowledge won’t inspire such a difficult decision. It would be David’s love of God that keeps him obediently serving. Your love for God is what propels what you know into action!
