David begins planning to build the Temple of God in Jerusalem. At first, he is given the green light and then a yellow light. God instructs him that he will not be the one to build it…but, good news…his kingdom will not end and his descendant will build the temple. This is a wonderful picture of the hope we can have when we busy ourselves with God’s Kingdom.
Lord, give me a heart to spend my life building Your Kingdom rather than any other.
A great song when considering our hearts and how we can focus our lives on God’s Kingdom building:
David shows his great love for God with this ultimate act of service (building the temple). Yet, God says no. Our service must be out of Knowledge of God’s plan therefore it can be ‘obedient’ and ‘precise’. Even though David didn’t build the temple, he was able to serve God with his life according to God’s perfect will and way.
