God’s favor leads to victories in every direction when we walk in faith and obedience.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Psalm 60:5 - Now rescue Your beloved people. Answer and save us by Your power.
Read - 2 Samuel 8:1-18, 1 Chronicles 18:1-17, Psalm 60
Under David’s leadership, the nation was finally completing the mission that God had given them centuries earlier: to possess the land He had promised them by driving out the Canaanite nations. Former disobedience does not have to be a continual curse of wayward living. If you have breath, you can begin to walk in Precise Obedience. Just as David rose up as a new leader, so too can you.
Lord, give me victory over the enemies of my past.
Psalm 60 seems to either suggest that the ‘quick victories’ of 2 Samuel 8:1-18 and 1 Chronicles 18:1-17 may have had a few bumps OR David was writing about the former defeats of Israel prior to his leadership and asking/pleading for God to give him victory.
Consider the garrisons of 2 Samuel 8:14. These outposts in what had been enemy territory are fabulous examples of how we can spread our faith in territory that has once been Marred and Misled by Satan. As God gives us victory in our lives, set up garrisons of faith in what had been dry and dusty and hopeless. As God gives us victory in our churches, set up garrisons in new homes filled with new faithful people. As God gives us victory in new areas of church planting and missionary endeavors, let’s put up new garrisons of ministry that will point to the eternal Mending of Christ!
