Find your security and significance in Christ and in who you are in Christ!
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Psalm 61:2-3 - Lead me to the towering rock of safety, 3 for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.
Read - Psalm 58, 61, 62, 64
Psalm 58 is a song that many of us could sing today. When we look for justice in humans we often simply find vengeance or some other lesser value. However, when we look to God for justice we find it in perfection.
Psalm 61 uses a great visual of safety and security - a towering rock. What is your place of safety and sanctuary where you meet with God and sense His protection?
Ever feel outnumbered? So did David. Often! Psalm 62 recalls a time where he was outnumbered but still found that when God was on His side that the ‘numbers’ just weren’t significant.
We often just want someone to listen…even if it is to our complaints. David was no different except He wanted God to listen. Well, at least God could do something about it. Psalm 64 reminds us to bring our complaints and concerns to someone who can do something about it - the Only One who can - God Almighty!
Lord, I will look only to You for justice and safety!
As we get deeper into the Psalms a typical question is ‘Why does David seem so sad?”: https://www.gotquestions.org/psalms-of-David.html
As David often cries out to God to remove his enemies or give him victory over them, I am reminded of Ephesians 6. Our enemy is not flesh and blood. It is a spiritual enemy. Our enemy has marred humanity by sin and still misleads the christian thru sin. However, we need not call down curses upon others who are caught in the same trap. Let’s focus our energies upon living for God and focus our prayers for safety and security upon God giving us freedom and victory over Satan!
