3:16 Plan - Week 1 - Day 3 - Year 2 - 2 King’s 17:5-23, 2 King’s 18:9-12, Isaiah 28

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Isaiah 28:2 - For the Lord will send a mighty army against it. Like a mighty hailstorm and a torrential rain…

Read - 2 Kings 17:5, 2 Kings 18:9, Isaiah 28:1-29, 2 Kings 17:6-23, 2 Kings 18:10-12

Israel is conquered.  A dream-like life is dashed upon the reality of decades of unfaithfulness.  Yet, Isaiah 28 promises that even still, a remnant of Israel will come out of this mess and that ‘God will be their pride and joy’ (verse 5).  Here is a recipe for us…when we have wandered we must return so that rather than being prideful in our own selves we find pride in the LORD our God.  Rather than seeking joy and happiness in other things we find true joy in our relationship to God.  Let us be that kind of remnant today.

Lord, you are my pride and joy.

The conquerers and tools of God’s judgment…

The 3 D’s of Satan’s Marring and Misleading are ultimately the center of today’s reading…especially the 3rd.  After years of deceptions and divisions, Israel (the northern 10 tribes of the original 12) were conquered.  Better stated, they had been Destroyed.  Their hopes and dreams destroyed…their nation destroyed…their safety destroyed.  Satan played them like a fiddle.  Don’t fall prey to the Enemy of God!  God the Father shows His great love in that He calls us out of deception to Know Him and calls us to be reconciled into right relationship with Him to be able to love Him and receive His love.  He was still calling a remnant out of this debacle…He is certainly still calling us!
