Apply

Man is a mess on his own.  From the beginning, God made us to be near to Him.  God made woman because we were not good ‘alone’.  When we go our own way and isolate we get into the weeds.  Isaiah’s opening prophecy is to an entire nation who has decided to do life ‘on their own’.  Independence sounds so free until we realize that man, apart from God, is lost in this world.  Declare your dependence today.  Dependence on God is not weakness…it is piping into the strongest thing in the world!

Yield

Lord, my sin is like scarlet and I need to blood of Jesus to make me white as snow!

Extra Discovery

The imagery of the blood and the white ‘cleansing’ is similar to David’s prayer in Psalm 51.

Revelation

From the beginning of the book of Isaiah, the problem is clear.  Verses 2-3 in that first chapter state The people of God have gone their own way because they do not Know their Master.  They do not Know God.  This has created a problem - a heart problem.  Chapter 1 verse 5 says their heart is sick.  That ‘love/heart problem’ flows out of the original head/knowledge problem.  Verses 6-8 describe destruction.  The destruction caused by an enemy who has conquered a people who do not know nor love God therefore have not served God.  This was epidemic for man then and is so know as well for people who do not have a saving relationship through Christ nor are Morphed by the Holy Spirit.
