Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Psalm 119:1 - Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the LORD.
Read - Psalm 119
Nearly every stanza of this Psalm shows commitment to God’s Truth given in the Word. Granted, that Word was the Old Testament Torah at the time. How much more can the follower of Jesus find joy and comfort in the entirety of the Scriptures. From the Old Testament (New Testament concealed) to the New Testament (the Old Testament revealed) we can bank our lives on the God-breathed Words of Scripture!
Lord, I will search Your Word for the instructions for my life today.
This Psalm is broken into 22 sections…one for each letter in the Hebrew Alphabet.
Psalm 119 seems to be a heavy-‘handed’ book in that when we look at our whole being (head, heart and hands) there is much to be said about obediently serving God. True! However, the Psalmist ties that obedience to putting God’s Word in his heart (like verse 11). Certainly, the premise of this lengthy chapter is to learn, meditate and know the scriptures of God so that we can also come to Know the God of the Scriptures. We do this with our whole being. God is calling you to engage with Him through His Word today. Go for it!
