Jesus was the Master Teacher.  His Parables (earthly stories with heavenly meanings) were and are so helpful to give us a great sense of how we are to live in faith.  This parable focuses on these two primary things…the farmer (which is God) and the seed (which is God’s Word given to us).  The question is how do we receive God’s Word.  Our hope is always to be good ground!

Revelation

These four soils are in two categories.  Category 1 includes the first 3 soils (hard, shallow, thorny).  These categories each show a heart/person who is given God’s Word but doesn’t hold onto the Word so that they have not been Mended by Christ.  Category 2 is the good ground and shows a person who receives God’s Word and comes to Know, Love and Serve Him.  This person is no longer Marred by Sin and can walk in the light and love of Christ for their entire life!
