Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Isaiah 30:18 So the LORD must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the LORD is a faithful God.
Read - Isaiah 30:18-35:10
Isaiah 35:8-9 speak of ‘The Way’ that will only be traveled by those ransomed from sin and saved by relationship with Christ. This Way is what Christ spoke of in John 14:6 and is the exclusive offer of Jesus. Do you know Him? It is this way that gives us the promise in verse 10…no more mourning and sadness and ultimate joy and gladness. Which one describes your life currently?
Lord, ransom my life as I trust in You.
The imagery of Isaiah 32:2 has been the title of one of the greatest daily devotionals in history.
Isaiah 35 gave hope to Israel but very likely their hope was more temporal than eternal. It would be easy to read these prophecies through a lens of their own lifetimes and hope that God would quickly forgive, restore and then bless the nation with all this peace, joy and gladness. Yet, these chapters are part of a larger promise that includes Jesus coming to earth a few centuries later and even then point to a greater fulfillment in the New Heaven and New Earth. The Israelites surely wanted relief from their present misery and choosing to follow God would help with that. Yet, the bigger call from God was for them/us to prepare for avoiding permanent and meaningless misery by placing their faith in God and His Saving Plan of sending Messiah (Jesus). Does your life get miserable? Trust in Christ and see it change now and forever!
