God chooses us to serve Him not based on our attributes but upon His grace.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Jeremiah 1: 5 "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb.
Read - Jeremiah 1-2:22
Jeremiah is called to be a prophet during the final years of Judah’s semi-independence. First, during the reign of Josiah (an exciting time) but then during times that are not as good. Whether we serve God in good times or bad, it is He we serve.
Lord, I will choose to serve You in good times and in bad.
Compare the end of Jeremiah 2 where God compares Israel to a vine then read the first half of John 15 to learn about the True Vine - Jesus.
As we surrender to the Holy Spirit of God and He does His Morphing work in us, He appoints us to be able to serve Him. We often call this Ministry and it is what happens when a Spirit-led follower of Jesus begins to obediently serve God out of a mind that Knows Him and heart that Loves Him. Jeremiah is given a ministry to serve God by sharing God’s Word. We hear God equipping Him (1:5-10). We hear God giving Him practice/experience (1:11-19). When we trust God, we can minister to Him and for Him knowing that He will guide and empower us!
