3:16 Plan - Week 8 - Day 5 - Year 2 - Isaiah 57:3-59

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Isaiah 59:1-2 - The LORD's arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call. 2 It's your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.

Read - Isaiah 57:3-59

Chapter 58 reminds us that God is not interested in religious activity but desires that our hearts would match his in grace and care.  Listen to His words as He calls Israel away from meaningless fasting and calls them to a true sacrificial type of living where those who have great need are blessed by the people of God.  Verse 10 states the purpose that the light of the people will shine into the dark world.  That’s what Jesus did and what He calls us to do.

Lord, you have called me to care for the less fortunate and I will do so!

Extra Discovery

The concept in 59:20 is that of ransom.   See Mark 10:45

The end of chapter 57 begins to talk about the type of person that will get to Marvel in the Majesty of God forever in eternity.  Verse 15 says it is those who are humble and repentant.  Humility is what leads us to an awareness of our sin and need for a Savior and brings us to a self-awareness of sin so that we recognize our need for repentance.  To repent is to turn towards God in faith and ask Him to empower us by His Spirit to walk in obedience to Him.  This is the type of person who will live in the high and holy place with God in eternity…this is the person who has received the grace of God and the Mending of Jesus.  Does it describe you?
