Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Daniel 1 - 4 "Select only strong, healthy, and good-looking young men," he said. "Make sure they are well versed in every branch of learning, are gifted with knowledge and good judgment, and are suited to serve in the royal palace. Train these young men in the language and literature of Babylon."
Read - Daniel 1-3
Daniel and his young friends were captives in a foreign land. Nothing would be familiar. They were set apart to become servants and would be assimilated into the culture. Yet, they had enough gumption to refuse the food of the King. Why? Possibly it was food that was against the Jewish dietary law or food that had been sacrificed to a false god. They took a stand. God blessed that stand. Dare to be a Daniel!
Lord, shape me by Your own hand into the person You created me to be.
Psalm 118:22 - Jesus is the Rock that Daniel and the Psalmist are prophesying about…
Christ is the Rock. Daniel earned the right to be heard by the King and was given a gift of God to be able to interpret the King’s dream. The dream showed a legacy of powerful Kingdom’s beginning with the King and going all the way to the time that Jesus (The Rock) would install a new Kingdom. This glimpse at the Mending work of Christ shows that to Mend us Christ must be King - King of our head, heart and hands. Rather than stumble over the Rock - we choose to build our house (our lives) on this strong foundation that will not be shaken.
