The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Jeremiah 23:3 - But I will gather together the remnant of my flock from the countries where I have driven them. I will bring them back to their own sheepfold…

Read - Jeremiah 23

God promises both to discipline the leaders (shepherds) who have led poorly and also to provide the perfect leader who will be Christ.  As is always the case, man’s attempts at being God fall short but we can trust that God provides what is needed in this department.  Jeremiah gives hope to the people of the exiled nation that it won’t always be this way.  They won’t always lose.  A remnant will be saved and the nation will be superseded by a Kingdom that will never end.

Lord, help me to be a christian leader that leads like Jesus.

YAHWEH-TSIDKENU [yah-way-tzid-kay-noo]: "The Lord Our Righteousness” (Jeremiah 33:16) –  it is God alone who provides righteousness (from the Hebrew word tsidkenu) to man, ultimately in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, who became sin for us “that we might become the Righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

As God morph’s the follower of Christ, He gives us a ministry.  For some, that ministry can be serving as a leader in the church.  Some leaders are called to be Elders in The Lord’s Church.  Elders are called by God to perform a function, not merely hold an office or position and are responsible to care for and lead the flock through the general oversight of the church, teaching the church, protecting the church, praying for the church, equipping the church, and modeling godliness to the church.
