In our final messages from Jeremiah we hear a conflict between two people who are supposedly speaking for the Lord with very different messages.  Hananiah is a false prophet speaking comfortable words about a shortened season of exile in Babylon.  Surely every person liked his words…Jeremiah even admitted that he wished they were true.  We must be careful when saying ‘thus says the Lord’ to ensure that the Lord ‘has thus said’.  The best way to do that is to keep our words aligned with His Word - The Bible.

Revelation

Discernment is a gift of God given to the Mended follower of Jesus as they are Morphed by the Spirit.  It would be part of the Mindset Transformation that the Holy Spirit does where we come to Know the voice of God versus any other.  In today’s text we see how important it is to discern well.  The difference between a 2 year exile and a 70 year exile is huge.  It would be like a person thinking they only need to hold their breath under water for 5 seconds but once submerged they will need to hold it for 2 minutes and 15 seconds.  They would run out of oxygen!  Let us discern God’s will by surrendering to His Spirit and seeking to Know His Mind.
