Jesus won victory over death and the devil so we will never have to lament that we have no future if we follow Him.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Lamentations 1:16 - "For all these things I weep; tears flow down my cheeks. No one is here to comfort me; any who might encourage me are far away. My children have no future, for the enemy has conquered us."
Read - Lamentations 1-2
This book of ‘laments’ is a heartfelt response to the destruction of Jerusalem. There are times where the situation calls for us to weep with those who weep (Romans 12:15). But, we should never grieve as if we are hopeless. (1 Thessalonians 4:13).
Lord, thank you that my sadness can be turned to joy in Christ!

One of the big things we can Know about God is that He fulfills all His promises. Lamentations 2:17 reminds us that He ‘does just as He plans’. When His promises are good for us (from our perspective) we get very excited about this truth. When His promises seem as punishment (from our perspective) this truth brings us less joy. Either way, knowing that God will do as He says is a great thing because we can trust Him at His Word!
