When God places a burden on your heart, He will also provide for a way to meet the need.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Nehemiah 4:14 - "Don't be afraid of the enemy! Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes!"

Read - Nehemiah 1-4

Nehemiah hears of the situation of his homeland and is burdened to do something about it.  God graciously gives him favor with the king so that he may travel to Jerusalem and get to work rebuilding the walls of the city.  In spite of opposition by enemies, the work begins and goes well.  He wisely has the walls guarded while the people work.  There is never a time where we need to let our spiritual guards down as the enemy is always looking for a weak spot to attack.

Lord, I will keep the wall of spiritual armor up to protect my heart.

Nehemiah is a book of obedient service.  The rebuilding of the walls of the city is a labor of love that Nehemiah, nor the people, would have endured if the love of God hadn’t inspired them.  This work wouldn’t have happened if Nehemiah’s brother hadn’t visited him in Susa and given him the knowledge of the situation.  Knowing, Loving and Obediently Serving God takes many forms as we strive to follow Christ.
