Good leaders lead people to repent, remember and return when they have wandered.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Nehemiah 6:15-16 - So on October 2 the wall was finished--just fifty-two days after we had begun. When our enemies and the surrounding nations heard about it, they were frightened and humiliated. They realized this work had been done with the help of our God.
Read - Nehemiah 5-9
Nehemiah levels with the people who had turned the return to Jerusalem into a profitable scheme. The people repent. Then the nation is led to remember their past and the faithfulness of their God. All this so that they can return to being faithful to God. Otherwise the purpose of the temple and the wall will not be fulfilled. Often we need to be reminded that the physical things we do better have an underlying and spiritual reason…
Lord, I yield to You so that the work you have begun in me can be completed.
Psalm 105 has some very similar themes to Nehemiah 9’s remembrances.
To remember is a valuable tool in the spiritual tool belt. At times, we must remember the faithfulness and mercy of God from our past so that we can trust Him in our present and future. This is a skill that comes from the Morphing of our Minds (Mindset) by the Holy Spirit of God but is aided greatly by ‘Knowing’ God’s Word and Knowing God’s Will.
