Troublesome things are no trouble at all for Jesus.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Matthew 8:16 - He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick.

Read - Matthew 8:16–17; Mark 1:32–34; Luke 4:40–41

We often run from hard things and choose to do things that seem easier first.  In today’s reading, Jesus shows that there isn’t hard or easy for Him.  His power treats any problem with the same focus and care.  All it took was a simple command from His lips to heal the sick and cast out an evil spirit.  Now that is authority.  When you ask God for help, remember the authority He wields over the world He created.

Lord, I trust that there is no problem to big for you.

Extra Discovery

Jesus fulfilled Isaiah 53 here and Matthew even quotes a part of it.

Sickness was not in Eden but perfection was.  When God Made the world there was no reason to fear things like this but when sin entered the world this became proof positive of the Marring of Sin.  In today’s text, we see the Savior wielding His power against the consequences of sin and Mending the broken.  He does that with physical needs but His primary healing comes towards our sin-sick and sin-broken hearts.  When He Mends those we are given new life and a new heart too!
