Trust God at His Word.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
John 4:50 - And the man believed what Jesus said and started home.
Read - John 4:46–54
Word had spread about the miraculous water/wine encounter so that when Jesus returned to the area He was in demand. This father sought Jesus out in faith that He would heal his dying son. The situation sounds bleak but the power of God turns even the bleakest situations into hopeful ones. However, consider the long walk home for the man…wondering if Jesus had done what he had asked Him to do…sometimes we must wait in faith and other times we must walk in faith.
Lord, I will follow Your commands and keep my hope fixed on You.
John’s first ‘sign’ was the water/wine in Chapter 2. His next will be in the next chapter (5:1-18).
To receive anything from God, you must have faith. Not just an un-focused faith but a faith in Jesus. This man places his faith in Christ to extend the life of his son. In this instance, faith wasn’t just an internal decision but a decision that motivated the man to both come to Jesus and then to depart from Jesus. In the same way, God’s Word tells us ‘faith without action/works is dead’. This type of Faith is motivated by Knowing God and fueled by Knowing how much He loves you. That type of Faith inspires our obedient service to God.
