If we are led by the love of God then we will fulfill His plan and our purpose for life.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Matthew 22:36 - "Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?"
Read - Matthew 22:34–40; Mark 12:28–34
Known as the ‘Greatest Commandment’, Jesus re-enforces the law and the central purpose of it. Loving God and Loving others is the simplified version of his quote and a great guiding principle for the follower of Christ. Usually, we lean towards one side stronger than the other (God or people) but God calls us to both.
Lord, I commit my love to you and to others.
Read Deuteronomy 6:4-5 and Leviticus 19:17-18 to see the source of these commandments.
The singular leader referenced in Mark 12 seems to be falling in love with Jesus and His teachings. He agrees with Jesus and affirms the law at the same time. Agreement and interest do not make a follower of Christ. They are foundational but not enough. Knowledge alone isn’t enough. This is why Jesus exclaims that ‘He is not far from the Kingdom of God’. To be Mended by Christ we must take the knowledge of Christ and not just accept it but accept Him and that He is Savior. Then we enter God’s Kingdom.
