Seeking God for the gifts of purity and wisdom will be vital to keep our hearts in check.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
James 3:2 Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.
Read - James 3
The Bible teaches often that a person reaps what they have sown. Today’s text reminds us to sew peace in our words, actions and attitudes so that we will reap a life that will be in right standing with the ways of God. What will you sew today?
Lord, I will give control of my tongue to You.
God’s Word teaches us to not just watch our tongues but to let them be transformed. This is the Morphing of the Holy Spirit and is a work of control and surrender. We must give away any power we think we have over our heart (where problems start before they ever get out of our mouth) and then carefully take every thought captive before we speak (for in the head is where we dwell upon the things bubbling out of our heart) so that we don’t get stuck putting out the flames of hell in our tongue (this being our physical actions, words and attitudes).
