The more we pay attention to our surroundings, the more the Lord will give us a burden for the troubles.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Acts 17:16 - While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was deeply troubled by all the idols he saw everywhere in the city.
Read - Acts 17:10-15
Paul found himself in Athens with a burden for the spiritually confused greeks. What does he do about it? The only thing he knows to do…he begins to share the gospel with them…many scoff but some respond in faith. Paul paid attention and did something about what he saw. This is a great thing!
Lord, help me to have compassion and empathy with what I see today.
Many people are spiritual but not biblical. This was the case in Greece, even to the point that they had idols for un-named God’s. As we look to engage others with the Gospel so that they will come to Know Him through Jesus, Love Him and Others and Serve Him and His Mission, we must recognize that these seeds of understanding towards God should not be seen as a negative but a positive. A spiritual person has made a huge step towards faith in that they believe at least in ‘something’ and once you have that then the next faith step is to recognize that ‘something’ is a ‘someone’. From there, the Gospel begins to click!
