3:16 Plan - Day 2 - Week 1 - Year 3 - John 10:22-42

Jesus clearly claimed Deity so for us to disagree with Him is sin at the highest level.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

John 10:24-25 -  If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly." Jesus replied, "I have already told you, and you don't believe me.

Jesus said, “The Father and I are one.”  This was a clear statement to His Divine nature that we have just celebrated in the virgin birth (Christmas).  God the Son is both fully God and fully man.  If we are His sheep (His followers) then we will accept this with faith and settle the matter in our hearts.

Yield

Lord, I need no more evidence.  You are the Lord of all Creation!

Revelation

Many well meaning people have been Misled by the Enemy.  Satan’s first tactics are often to deceive.  We see that in today’s reading when these folks choose not to believe in the many signs that Christ has already shown them and instead ask for more.  Then the devil likes to Divide.  You read in John 10 about a group that believes and then another more hostile unbelieving group.  Once our Enemy has Divided he seeks to Destroy.  The faithless group illustrates this by picking up stones to kill Jesus.

Acts 2:38 is a great call to repentance.

Eternal life with Christ in the New Heaven and New Earth is an exciting proposition that should fill us with hope and cause us to live with great expectancy.  That expectancy dictates that we be ready and waiting for the return of our Lord.  It has been said that heaven is a prepared place for a people prepared.

Lord, I will get ready for Your return.

There are great differences between those whom are Mended by Christ and those who remain Marred by Sin.  Those differences create a divide that can only be crossed by faith in Christ.

Revelation

Worry is a human attribute that leads us into dark places.  It is what happens when we let the Deceiving tactics of our enemy convince us that God doesn’t have our best interests in mind.  A biblical Mindset is to worry about nothing and instead pray about everything.  Adopt this mindset and trust God and you will find Him morphing you all the more by His Holy Spirit.

Jesus is building disciples in today’s text.  He warns against saying anything in secret.  He warned against fearing man instead of having a holy and reverent awe/fear of God.  He reminds us that God knows us well and that God is forgiving for all but the unpardonable act of not acknowledging Him as Lord and Savior.  Lastly, Jesus gives us hope that God has given His Holy Spirit to guide even our words when we are in tough spots!

Yield

Lord, I will guard my words against evil and will use them instead to magnify You!

3:16 Plan - Week 47 - Day 1 - Year 2 - Luke 11:37-54

Religion can be a killer (it killed Jesus) or it can be pure.  Let’s lose bad religion and live out a beautiful relationship with an amazing Savior.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Luke 11:46 -  "Yes," said Jesus, "what sorrow also awaits you experts in religious law! For you crush people with unbearable religious demands, and you never lift a finger to ease the burden.”

Jesus teaches us to go deeper than surface religiosity and deal with our souls.  The good news, of course, is that when our inside is right then the outside follows suit.

Yield

Lord, search me from the inside where only You and I know.

Extra Discovery

James 1:27 is a great verse to remind us what pure religion is in God’s sight.

Revelation

When we use the word Mended by Christ to explain salvation we could mistakenly think that we are referring to an external act (like mending a sweater).  Nope.  The work that God does through Christ when we repent of our sins and turn to Christ alone for salvation is a deep work of the soul.  Just like in today’s text where Jesus calls us deeper than what shows on the outside, God calls us to be spiritually formed from the inside out.

3:16 Plan - Week 46 - Day 4 - Year 2 - Luke 10:38-42

It is possible to be a busy servant and a reverent worshipper…though it isn’t easy.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Jesus blessed the busy and the boring…although is there really such a thing as boring in a world of God’s design - NOPE.  Mary learns how to worship and Martha learns it’s importance.  However, the tables can be turned at times when we find ourselves stationary when God is calling for action.  The goal - choose the most important thing.

Yield

Lord, help me to know when to be still and when to get serving.

Revelation

Mary was busy learning to Know God and enjoying His Love through Christ.  Martha was focused on Serving.  Both are important.  The wholly committed disciple will do both…so that the result is someone who Knows God with their Mind, Loves God with their Heart, and serves God obediently with their Hands.  The goal isn’t balance.  The goal is mature and intimate relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.
